2024 Community Training Series
Join Liberty City Arts for an enriching Summer Series 2024, featuring an array of lectures, workshops, masterclasses, and a concert that celebrates and elevates the art of singing. Kicking off with “From Treatise to Today—Mastering the Bel Canto Style of Singing” on July 15, acclaimed teacher Jack Li Vigni and Bel Canto Boot Camp co-founder Rachelle Jonck will guide attendees through the classic exercises of the 1800s and help build skills for measurable results. This is followed by a series of workshops exploring the unique qualities of early vocal recordings, including “How (and Why) to Listen to Early Vocal Recordings” on July 18 and “The Past Isn’t Dead, It Isn’t Even Past” on July 23, offering participants a deep dive into the techniques of legendary singers and the historical approaches to modern practice.
The series also features a masterclass on July 20 with Rachelle Jonck working with young Philadelphia opera singers, and another workshop, “From Pleasure to Pedagogy – Reviving Vintage Vocal Mastery” on July 25. The series culminates with a free “Music in the Park” concert on July 26 at Liberty Lands, showcasing performances by emerging artists from Liberty City Arts & Bel Canto Boot Camp’s training week. These events provide both singers and audiences a unique window into the world of vocal mastery, combining historical insights with modern techniques to enhance both listening and performance skills.
